UNIJOY Ghana Distributes Free Sanitary Pads to Girls at Local Secondary School

ACCRA, Ghana – UNIJOY Ghana recently carried out a meaningful corporate social responsibility campaign at one local secondary school, handing out free sanitary pads to female students to tackle period poverty and protect girls’ right to education.
The UNIJOY Ghana team visited the single secondary school alongside teachers and school management staff. They provided packs of high-quality sanitary pads to all teenage girl students on campus. Before the distribution, brand representatives delivered an interactive menstrual hygiene workshop for the girls. The session broke local taboos around menstruation, teaching proper pad usage, daily body care and disease prevention knowledge to help the teens build healthy hygiene habits.
In Ghana, many adolescent girls miss several school days each month because they cannot afford sanitary products. Without proper supplies, they turn to unsafe substitutes such as old rags or paper, which bring infection risks and make them too embarrassed to attend class. This gap keeps girls from keeping up with their studies and widens educational gender gaps.
“Every girl should receive education with full dignity and never miss classes due to menstruation,” a regional representative of UNIJOY Ghana shared at the donation event. “This activity at this secondary school is more than a simple gift of hygiene products. We aim to raise awareness of menstrual health among local families and help young girls focus on their schoolwork without worry.”
The school headmaster expressed sincere thanks to UNIJOY Ghana. He mentioned that the donated sanitary pads will greatly reduce female student absenteeism at the school. Many beneficiary girls also spoke gratefully, saying they no longer need to fear leakage or shame during school hours.
UNIJOY Ghana stated it will continue expanding similar menstrual welfare projects to more schools across Ghana in the future. As a brand focused on maternal and infant care, UNIJOY keeps launching community charity programs in West Africa, delivering practical support to groups lacking basic daily supplies. This one-school pad donation activity perfectly embodies the brand’s mission of bringing gentle care to vulnerable women and young girls in African communities.
